Samir Thapar Being part of a sporting family and an avid sports fan, continuing with a great cause of sports in the true traditions of JCT takes no persuasion at all.

JCT Football Team, which was formed in 1971, is today one of the best national teams with players of national and international repute. The team has won the Inaugural National League in the year 1996 and has been a consistent performer since then. The JCT football team was the Runners-up team in the Indian League in the year 2006-07. In the season 2007-2008, the winning streak of the team continued and it has secured No.3 position on the I-League table.

During the years 1974 to 1987, JCT successfully won a host of major tournaments across India like the Durand Cup, Sait Nagjee Cup, Madura Coats, Bokaro Cup, Punjab State League Championships, top class tournaments of Punjab State, etc.

And from 1992 to 1997, JCT won all the major tournaments of India, namely the Inaugural National Football League in the year 1996, the Durand Cup in the years 1976, 1983, 1987, 1992 & 1996, the Federation Cup in the years 1995 & 1996, the Scissors Cup in the year 1995, the IFA Shield in the year 1996 (in this tournament JCT is the only Indian Team except Kolkata Clubs to have won the Shield) and Rovers Cup in the year 1997.

Our role continues to be one of discovering hidden talent at the grass root level, nurturing them and developing them to aid the national sports agenda.

JCT Limited has invested in two football academies (Under 19 and Under 16 year groups) in Punjab providing them with superior training, boarding and lodging facilities and exposing the players to world class benchmarks. The faculty has eminent coaches of repute and the results speak for themselves.

The JCT Academy set out with the intention of developing and enhancing sport talent at the grass root levels and contributing skilled sports persons to the football fraternity at the state and national levels.

I wish the JCT Football Team, JCT Academy and its members all the success in times to come. They can rest assured that the JCT Ltd.’s commitment to contributing to the national sports endeavor will continue with greater zeal and enthusiasm.

Best wishes

Samir Thapar
